Double pay would be a nice plus, but I do prefer to spend Christmas with my family. So even with double pay, I would prefer not too, though yes, there are some places that must stay open (hospitals).
I didn't know you worked for a hospital, so I take it back.
Cookies? My mom made oreo dessert. Yum.

yes some places are still open on xmas (I have worked for 2 so far in my working career--and if I had stayed at the hospital that would have been 3)....so there are still quite a few folks out there working on xmas (police, medical-hospital, post office--yes they have a christmas DAY delivery, gas stations, some stores/groceries, etc)....
cookies are chillin' now to start on dinner.

I just think sometimes it is wrong to have people work on Christmas, but not everyone celebrates it so I guess you can't close down just about everything. Oh well.

the religious version....from wiki:
the churches seems to have always celebrated the 25th....
my family 'celebrated' xmas on whatever date worked for our schedules

Maybe, but christmas isn't for religious people only.... and i know the calender we use now is shít, but meh.
Santa claus has nothing at all to do with christmas........ really he has not... that's just... you think people got presents before Jesus lived on the 24/25th of decemeber?, i don't think so...

The 3 wise men brought Jesus presents. So why can't we all dress up as Arabian wisemen and give presents to each other?
I actually love working on holidays because work is so light and I browse the internet all day. It would be even better if I could use the hospital's internet to download "stuff" all day. Plus I live 10 mins away.

Christmas is generally thought to be a religious holiday. Yes, not everyone who celebrates believes that Christmas is, and they don't have too, but it is generally seen as such.
Well another Christmas come and gone. Time to gear up for the new year.

Highly doubtful the Mayan's were correct. I mean seriously? Anyone ever stop to think that maybe, just maybe, the guy making it got bored? I mean he went WAY beyond what they survived. Boredom and wondering why he was doing it had to set in at some point.

ooops...them elves!!!! ( I said FLorida!! ---- SOUTH not NORTH!!!!)
and I had read somewhere that the mayan calendar is correct, just has not been accurately decoded (and that is might be the end of one 'kind' of life---not what you would imagine).....
my cold knocked me out most of today, I think I have officially been awake a grand total of 3 hours today (and not consecutive either )

Ours is over now. Though I'm sure we will get more snow eventually. Tis how the cookie crumbles.
Ya, there are many different translations of the calender. So who knows. It could just be another Y2K thing again.

something will happen just not what you think---and the way it was explained to me was more like you will look back and say...it was THEN that it changed! so not what you think, and not what you will be able to see for some time after wards (ok, maybe its the day that gw2 will actually be released--that would constitute the end of the world----)

Actually, the mayan calendar fits perfectly with the solar system, however, what people forget to say is, the end of 1 calendar means a new 1 is coming... it has nothing to do with end of the world, people just want it so, because scared = good for some reason.

so the original holiday was a pagan celebration anyways, since the advent (hahahaha) of going shopping for gifts....the holiday has gotten very very secularized...which is part of why I call it xmas instead of christmas ...there is very little of christ left in this pagan holiday.
Yes santa and jesus have very little to do with each other, however, they got bundled together just like the solstice and jesus' birth (which was NOT even IN the winter!). The early church did lots of things like that.
as for the 3 wise men....no one ever said there were only 3...it says wise men from the east bore 3 different kinds of gifts..... no one said that each wise man only gave him one gift and that he got no repeats (wonder if the local merchant did gift returns back then ).....another holiday myth busted!
and yeah xmas is over....time to clean up (made beef wellington for dinner sans the liver pate)......and eat all the cookies and chocolate I got!
|
And maybe you are correct, but i don't give a rats ass about jesus, to me he has lived, but he is not the son of god, that's just fúcking stupid, people still believing in religion is idiots, sorry but that's my opinion, however, people that live by religion is fair enough.

I'm back ^^
Hope you guys had a fun christmas/week-end/call it whatever you want xD.
Saw that the East Coast had a snowstorm...I almost want to say "lucky them" .
Me want snow ! (And since I don't have to go anywhere far, I couldn't care less about traffic, trains or planes).
Scared people are easier to manipulate. Like parents scaring their kids by telling them that they won't receive gifts if they don't behave nicely (that's also blackmail).
And for the Mayan calendar, I'm eager for 2013 because it will end all those stupid jokes/rumors, but at the same time, I'm pretty sure people will create more lame jokes on that...some people should really do something better with their time.
And some people need to stop seeing signs everywhere >.<

I know azzer, I never said that it was wrong, I'm just saying the guy could have gotten bored. I know that alot of what they have predicted along the way has been fairly accurate. But again, it is open to interpretation.

(and yeah just like y2k cant wait to see the looks on peeps faces when dec 22, 23, 24 25...january 2013....comes around oh yeah)
